This special extended edition of PRTM’s Global Supply Chain Trends 2008–2010 examines the impact of the financial crisis on companies with globally-extended supply chains, and the strategies employed by senior executives to deal with the effects. Released in June 2009, it illustrates how organizations are addressing the economic crisis in the context of their supply chains, contrasting these results with those from a larger study PRTM released one year ago.
The new survey results reflect the views of more than 75 global manufacturing and service companies. Some highlights from the survey:
As many as 75% of executives surveyed say they have helped at-risk suppliers ensure deliveries
Almost half (45%) have provided financial support to suppliers in the form of revised payment terms or risk financing
In-sourcing is on the agenda for some – 27% of companies in the automotive sector say they will reclaim certain outsourced activities to tighten control over supply chain performance.
